Tisha B’Av: A Different Kind of Grief
Wednesday, July 29
Led by Shaare Emeth clergy and staff,
the evening will include study, prayer and song.
Traditionally, Tisha B’Av marks the day when both the First and Second Temples were destroyed. It is a day of communal grieving for the Jewish people. In the midst of the COVID-19 global pandemic, each of us has had to cope with individual losses – of loved ones, of jobs, of feelings of safety, of opportunities. But we are also experiencing a shared loss of being together with our Temple community, of being in one another’s presence.
All are invited to join us for a special Tisha B’Av commemoration that will make space to name and to grieve what has been lost. In doing so, we hope to also open ourselves to new possibilities that might await.
