With Facilitators, Debbie Bram & Sharon Weissman
Sharon has been a member of Congregation Shaare Emeth for thirty-three years. After receiving her MSW, Sharon worked as a medical social worker at Missouri Baptist Hospital, primarily in Oncology. Sharon then completed comprehensive chaplaincy training and worked as a chaplain for both hospice and JF&CS. This work expanded Sharon’s ability to listen attentively with passion and respect to her clients and their families. Currently Sharon is an active member of the Caring Committee’s Shiva Group and makes visits to members’ homes to lead services and/or provide comfort. Sharon was trained three years ago by the Institute for Jewish Spirituality in Wise Aging Facilitating. Recently, she participated in an intensive training from the Institute for Advance Wise Aging Facilitators. Sharon brings her knowledge, warmth, passion and beautiful voice as a Wise Aging Facilitator to this program.
Debbie is the Director of Jewish Life and Learning at Congregation Shaare Emeth. She received her MSW in 1980. Her social work career focused on marriage and family therapy. After 13 years in that field, Debbie became the Director of Jewish Education at Temple Israel in St. Louis. Since that time, she has continued her work in Jewish education and received her Master’s in Jewish Education from Hebrew Union College-Institute of Jewish Religion in 2013. Debbie participated with Sharon in both Wise Aging training programs from the Institute for Jewish Spirituality. Debbie brings her humor, kindness and compassion as a Wise Aging Facilitator to this program.
Debbie and Sharon look forward to beginning their sixth Wise Aging group this fall. In 2019, they will begin their first Alumni Wise Aging group.
